Why I Wrote “The Incident in the Garden”

I originally wrote The Incident in the Garden: My Witness for Jesus because I believed that if the man I hurt, my family, and my friends knew the truth, they would understand why I, unfortunately, went through with the crime. They would see there was no murderous intent in my heart. They would see that I was deceived, and that deception led to my offense. They would see there was far more going on than meets the eye.

After I was arrested, I began writing my book in the supermax jail I was being housed in. My most immediate concern being to get my story down so that I could clarify what happened during the incident in the garden, and, hopefully, clear my name. On the other hand, I wrote the book as a witness to God and all the things He revealed to me. Either way, getting the truth out there was the most important thing. The results were in God’s hands.

That was my original intent for the book.

Over time I’d come to see that the things God revealed to me were far too important, and farther reaching, than a writing for those that were closest to me. The things God had revealed to me were meant to be heard by everyone.

Today, as we near Fall 2026, I now say my book was written for the world.

This journal entry is a brief intro to me and my book. I want to share with you a little bit about my life before I encountered God. Then I’ll talk about the significance of my encounter with God and why it led me to go on my journey to learn the truth. After that I want to mention the two most important things God revealed to me that He wants me to share. Finally I want to let you know what I hope people will discover as they read my book, and follow along.

My Life Before God

Before I encountered God, I was simply your average American. I was going to school so that I could land a good career. I had a couple of jobs. And I started seeing a girl I believed might have been my true love.

At the same time I might have said I was “spiritual but not religious”. By that I meant I spent a little bit of my time trying to connect with something greater (whether it be the universe, the source, or whatever was out there that was spiritual or more scientific, I wasn’t sure), doing yoga, reading psychology and philosophy, meditating, and some other forms of self and what you might call “spiritual” discovery.

As I was living my average American life, exploring a worldly form of spirituality, I was also indulging a little bit in alcohol, partying, and living promiscuously. Today I see these activities—the way I was doing them—as sinful, but at the time I just thought that these things were what every young adult did. It was a means of enjoying life. These were the pleasures that one lived for. This is what success looked like.

Now I know better.

Not long after I started seeing the girl I thought might be my true love, I knew I needed to, and I wanted to, give up all the drinking, partying, and sleeping around I was doing. I wanted to rid myself of all those unhealthy things so that the love I had for the girl would last as long as possible, preferably, from death do us part. So, I made the decision. I was going to give up those unhealthy ways.

As I made the move to do so, life started getting a bit more otherworldly.

Encountering God

I wasn’t sure if God was real, but as I began to give up my unhealthy ways, I also began to feel a presence “out there”. At first it wasn’t a “step out from behind the clouds” moment, but a gradual revelation over time. As I worked, stressfully, on giving up my unhealthy ways God, praise God, began to reveal Himself to me. Over the span of a week or so, God went from a presence I could sense, to a presence I could sense nearby, to the point where He felt as close as if He was standing right in front of me.

My eyes were being opening—and I was encountering God.

The Almighty. The Father. The King. He was real.

The Call

God was so… incredibly… awesome. I had never experienced anything like this before. I was so attracted to Him. So overwhelmed by His love. So amazed by what was happening. At the same time, I could sense that God was… calling me.

My heart had never desired to be with anyone more in my life. I thought of my life and all the good things going on—but it wasn’t even a comparison. I knew I wanted to give all myself to God. I decided, instantly, that I was going to give up everything to follow Him.

Giving Up Everything for God

I quit my jobs. Left school. Sold or gave away everything I owned. I got out of my housing. Eventually I’d pay off all my credit card debt. And, lastly, the girl that I was seeing and I would separate. I kind of sabotaged it, but even though I still cared for her a lot, as soon as I encountered God her love became more like a warm and pleasant campfire, and God’s love was as powerful as an immortal sun.

And I was chasing the sun.

The Purpose of My Journey

It was my encounter with God that inspired me to go on my journey to seek the truth. You see, I didn’t grow up in a Christian household, and I had never read the Bible. Turns out that I knew some truth about God from catechism (that He is Almighty, Father, and King), but I was mostly filled with lies and misunderstandings. After encountering God I knew I had to go on a journey to learn the truth not only about who the real God is, but who I am, and what’s going on in the world. Thus I’d eventually make a vow with God in my heart and let Him know that I wanted Him to take me on a journey to learn the truth about all these things. At the same time, I didn’t trust religion or anyone or anything in the world that claimed to know the truth.

So when I made my vow with God, I told Him that I wanted to go on this journey on my own.

I wanted to go on this journey alone so that I could learn the pure, unadulterated, truth from God. Then I could know the truth, personally. I could know the truth, fully. I could then share the truth with others. And sharing the truth was important to me. I wanted to know the truth not simply to keep it with myself, but so that I could share it with others, and lead people to God. I could be a witness.

A witness—that’s who I am here to be.

Going Public

There are two revelations God shared with me that, I believe, will impact the world on global scale. This is why I am going public.

These revelations will impact every person on earth, in some way.

These revelations are in my book, The Incident in the Garden: My Witness for Jesus.

This writing is not the most fitting place to talk about these revelations because this is an introductory writing, and what God has shown me needs a bigger space to talk about and unpack. I will say this, though, about these revelations. As for the first and most impactful revelation: a transformation is on the horizon for those who, to quote God, do not “confess”. And two, I see this next revelation as a promise, to quote God, He is: “preparing a treasure on an island for those who obey Him.”

I’m letting you know about these revelations, because what God has shared with me is too incredibly important to keep to myself.

Yes, I am nervous about sharing them, but I’m learning how to trust God more than fear man.

I’ll speak more about these revelations, in time.

What I Hope You’ll Discover

We live in a very confusing world. There are all kinds of beliefs about reality—everything from the big bang theory to warring gods that killed each other and that’s how the universe was formed, from creating our own meaning in life to enlightenment and nirvana, from thinking that we are gods to knowing we are not gods, from annihilation to a new heaven and new earth, and then there are those that mix and match and believe in whatever they want to.

What I hope you’ll discover when you read my book, and as you journey along with me, is that we live in a very specific story written by God. He created the setting, he has revealed the main character, developed the plot, gone through the climax, and has let us know where the story is heading. This story has been clearly written. Therefore, there are things that are true and things that are untrue—especially when it comes to what we believe.

God is the Author of Life—and the Bible is the story we are living in. Which means that Jesus lived, died, and rose again—and He’s coming again, soon, to build His Kingdom. Which means that all other beliefs are—I say this empathetically, but boldly as well—are inaccurate perspectives about reality.

It might seem like there is no harm in believing whatever you want to, and there is no foul—but inaccurate beliefs about reality are essentially leading people astray. Astray, and into a darkness the likes of which the world has never seen before.

I hope you’ll see, then, that I am writing this to spread the truth.

I’m writing this to help lead people to safety.

I’m writing this to help lead people to the Kingdom of God.

For life and life abundantly, Jesus is the truth.

Conclusion

What began with an encounter with God back in 2016 would lead me into one of the most intense journeys of my life. The journey for the truth—when you have an active enemy attempting to lead you astray, your own desires wanting to lead you into darkness, and are living in a lost world—can be one of the most difficult journeys of our time.

After going on my journey, and having received the truth—along with the revelations God wants me to share with the world—I know what I am here for. I’m here to share my witness, through my book, with you.

I offer my life in service to the King.

If you haven’t received the truth yet, I pray you will as you journey with me. If you have already received the truth, then I pray that as you journey along with me that you will receive an even deeper, richer, and more illuminating portion of the truth. Not simply for knowledge, but that you may be a mouthpiece for truth in this confusing world. That you be a light in the darkness that points people to the Light of the World. That you may guide others to the truth, and celebrate when the Lord sets them free.
